Week 3 Patent Claim 1 Explanation

Claim 1 of patent, "Slide to unlock patent" (US 8046721), basically states that they get full credit for getting a phone to unlock by using the touching method than sliding your finger. A few of the main points of the claim include touch sensitive display, an unlock image for users to know exactly where they have to slide their finger to unlock the phone and an end position to unlock said phone.

  • not only was television feasible but it is one of the top forms of entertainment in the world
  • tv is a billion dollar industry, producing tons of hollywood stars
  • televised news revolutionized the news industry as well

For week three we had to choose the top 5 predictions from a list we were presented in class. My criteria for selection was solely based on my personal beliefs and what I believe has had the biggest impact on my personal life. I also took into consideration the impact on humans the invention or idea has had. These top 5 are in no particular order.

  • This quote is crazy because the beatles are one of the greatest bands of all time
  • they sold more albums than any other artist in history beating out Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson

  • inspired millions of musicians including myself

Top 10 Technological  Advances Round 2 

  1. Computers – when the computer came about it revolutionized the world. We could do arithmetic or logical operations automatically and it seems as if every year computers become more advanced and more powerful.
  2. Internet- the internet goes hand in hand with computers. The internet allowed humans to access information at the click of a button. It was huge for college students who could look up information rather than have to rely only on books.
  3. Telephones- Before telephones humans relied on horseback riders to send letters, than came morse code which was very convenient in sending messages. The telephone helped connect the world on a global scale. 
  4. Airplanes – They allowed us to travel across vast distances in a matter of hours. What used to be long road trips became an easy flight.
  5. Penicillin - helped save lives when people got sick from wounds ranging from minor wounds to women giving birth. It was also revolutionary in war as thousands of soldiers were saved because of penicillin. 
  6. Television – Television became a big source of entertainment and became the biggest producer of news, so viewers could be informed about world affairs along other thingss.
  7. Sewage system - The sewage system serves ensures safety through treating water, sanitizing it and helping to conserve the environment through doing so. 
  8. Printing Press – back in the 1500’s the printing press revolutionized the world as mass amounts of documents could be printed at once and distributed. We no longer had to write every book out by hand.
  9. Electric Lights – They are still used today and they eliminated the need to use candles and fire as lighting in homes.
  10. Steam Engine – pioneer for cars, airplanes, trains, and factories. They played a huge part during the industrial revolution.
